DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR, the largest floorcovering tradeshow in Asia Pacific, is set to take place from July 26-28, 2023, in Shanghai, China. After three years of closed borders and a challenging environment during the pandemic, the show aims to reconfirm its leading position in the region. The event is expecting over 60,000 visitors from China and other parts of the world and will showcase the latest products and innovations in the industry.

The show will host 1,600 exhibitors and brands in an overall exhibiting space of 200,000 sqm, spread throughout seven halls at the National Exhibitions and Convention Centre (NECC). The organisers are looking forward to welcoming particularly participants from overseas who continue to register in big numbers. Visitors’ online registrations will stay open until July 24, 13:00 Beijing time, organsier VNU Exhibitions Asia said in a press release.

The theme of the event this year is ‘More than Flooring’. DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR will return to cover the flooring world at 360 degrees, from raw materials to technologies and finished floorcoverings products, both textile and hard flooring of any type. At the same time, complementary products such as ceiling and wall materials, door cabinets, and more will also be showcased, to reflect the transformation and breakthrough of products from a single plan to a multi-dimensional concept of space fitting. The show will be a gathering point of the multi-dimensional space fitting industry chain to foster cross-industry communication and multi-channel integration.

David Zhong, president of VNU Exhibitions, said: “We are very thrilled to finally see our show back to its normal size and attract professionals from all over the world. Our aim has always been to create a professional platform for the whole world flooring industry to meet and strengthen cooperations in the Asia Pacific, for the future development of the industry. We couldn’t be happier and prouder seeing this happening again this year, after the halt during the pandemic.

“The world flooring industry continues to be vibrant and is bouncing back fast. China remains a manufacturing powerhouse and a big consumption market, therefore it continues to present many opportunities for companies all over the globe.”

As China has finally fully returned to the international trade scene, the organisers have this year put an emphasis on the hosted buyer programmes, to ensure the platform is helping at its best the regaining of trade relations in the flooring industry between China, Asia, and the world. A particular focus has been put on the international buyers, to assist their smooth return to China through a unique hospitality package and an efficient visit and scouting of suppliers through various matchmaking activities.

Over 100 selected international buyers will be hosted by the organiser and engage in different onsite activities, tailored to put them in contact with the right manufacturers as per their needs. Several matchmaking sessions, personalised guided tours, and networking events are created to put the flooring demand and supply in contact in the most efficient way.

To help create more business opportunities for the attendees from the carpet sector, a group of hand-picked carpet buyers was organised in partnership with Cover Magazine of Hali Publications, the world leader media in the international rug and textile art market. In addition, a group of international buyers from the wood and resilient flooring sector will be hosted and guided in partnership with the European American Chamber of Commerce & Industry (EAcham), a non-governmental organisation and global chamber, headquartered in Belgium, which operates in China for the past 16 years and has representative offices in 12 different countries including the US, Germany, France, Italy, India, and Mexico.

DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR has always put an important focus in being, not only a trading platform, but also a point for education, information, and know-how exchange in the flooring industry. For this purpose, concurrent events alongside related industries have been put in place to enhance attendees’ experience at the show and create more content and networking opportunities.

The Multidimensional Interior Space Forum is a full day event which will take place on July 25, one day before the show opening. In full synergy with the show’s theme this year, it will be a gathering of the elites from the entire multi-dimensional space fitting industry chain, including flooring, ceiling and wall materials, door cabinets, cross-border channels, engineering, and design. The forum will focus on several key aspects such as interior design integration trends, operational approaches, supply chain challenges as well as releases of research studies conducted in the sector.

Cadex, the international event for connecting, learning, and doing business in the design and architecture industry, will be located in hall 7.2H and will evolve around two main themes—Designing for a Better Future and Material Matters.

Designing for a Better Future is a full day summit dedicated to architects and designers, taking place on July 26, where a panel of 14 Chinese and international designers will discuss the post-pandemic challenges and the role the designing world can play in developing a better and environmentally sustainable future.

Material Matters is a creative format built to link material with the design world. It includes a dedicated display area, Material Lab, and various workshops. The aim is to showcase the most innovative material solutions and how they can be integrated in a unique design and technique, as well as establish a communication channel between material suppliers and designers through designer-curated themes, sample distribution, and knowledge exchange seminars.
