A new powerloom textile design centre has been opened in Erode city of Tamil Nadu by the Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL).
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, PDEXCIL's National Chairman, Bharath Kumar Chajjar said that the new centre would impart 50-hour and 25-hour design-oriented trainings in Computer-aided Textile Design to the trainees.
He said that the Council has asked the Textile Ministry to provide financial assistance for managing the training centre. The Ministry has already sanctioned Rs. 2.5 million for setting up a design studio with 10 computers and other amenities, he said.
Mr. Chajjar said that previously it almost took a week's time for a person to get the exact design prepared for a powerloom cloth, but the new centre would enable people to prepare beautiful designs in very quick time.
