India–Singapore trade rises over 110%

High Commission of India in Singapore in association with partners in India and Singapore will be organizing “Celebrating India” during April 10-16, 2006.
The purpose of this cultural feast is to provide exposure to wide range of aspects of contemporary India in a focused manner, highlight the depth and diversity of India-Singapore relations in a variety of areas and showcase a representative selection of the best of Indian talent.
India –Singapore trade relations have witnessed impressive growth from S$7.9 bn in 2003 to S$16.6 bn in 2005, an increase of over 110 Percent. The signing of landmark Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement between Singapore and India has opened new vistas for intensifying trade and investment exchanges.
Indian economy has been registering steadily high growth. The Budget presented on 28 of February has set the target of 10.1 Percent for 2006-07.
Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry together with Business organizations in India will arrange business meetings aimed at enhancing B2B ties to tap the trade and investment opportunities in India and Singapore. The participating states are: Maharashtra, West Bengal, Karnataka, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.
The wide of range of subjects covered will be Indian economy and Indian Budget 2006-07, IT and Communications, Special Economic Zones, Real estate and Infrastructure, Finance & Banking, Pharma and Biotech, Manufacturing & Trading, Logistics & Shipping, Education, Agro-products and Healthcare.
