Ethiopian Minister holds talks with Mahabir Prasad

Dr.Kassu Ilalla, Ethiopian Minster of Urban Development and Small Scale Industries called on Shri Mahabir Prasad, Union Minister of Small Scale Industries & Agro and Rural Industries.
Both the leaders discussed various issues pertaining to the micro, medium and small industries in India as also in Ethiopia. Dr. Ilalla evinced keen interest in the micro industries in India.
Welcoming the visiting dignitaries, Shri Mahabir Prasad said the MSME Sector in India attracted attention in recent years because of its massive potential. Shri Prasad urged the visiting Minister to take note of the various steps taken by the present UPA Government to boost this sector.
Elaborating on the subject, he said recently the Government announced a package for the benefit of Small Scale Sector. He also remarked that adding the nomenclature of 'micro' to the existing concept of small industries would go a long way in ensuring the steady growth of this sector.
Shri Mahabir Prasad explained the progress and benefit of 'cluster development schemes' that have been taken up in various States to the visiting delegation.
He expressed the hope that the good age-old relationship between the two countries would continue to grow and India would help Ethiopia in every possible way towards the growth of MSME sector.
India's excellent institutional mechanism for the growth of SSI sector could be explored by Ethiopia, the Minister added.
Dr. Ilallathanked the minister for the hospitality and assured all cooperation from his country. He said Ethiopia has a free market economy and the small scale sector is a major employer to the teeming millions like India.
