Mr. Tanveer Sheikh, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), highlighted challenges being faced by the industry, especially Textile Industry and said that Pakistan has to reach the ambitious target of $45 bn of exports annually in the next 6 years, for which we have to create the export capacity to achieve export target, and achieving this target will undoubtedly be a major boost for Pakistan's economy for which private sector has to work very hard.
Regarding Duty Free Access he said in order to boost exports particularly cotton, The Ministry of Commerce also needs to carry out a survey to find out as to which county do not have preferential or reduce tariff with Pakistan, He also said that opportunities provided by Doha round for improved Market Access would be substantial and Pakistan may have a better position to make use of these opportunities.
Mr. Sheikh further stated that it is essential to provide appropriate infrastructure facilities to attract new investment in these industrial sectors, He further highlighted the efforts of FPCCI regarding R&D to re model FPCCI on modern lines, compatible to the international standards and requirements.
Pakistan faces the challenges of increasing the productivity, He further emphasize on the single country exhibition to boost up the trade in Pakistan.
Mr. Shahzada Alam Monnoo, stated that it is now an established practice in the Government to consult all stake holders before formulating the policies.
Regarding exports policies side he said it is for the first time that we have adopted a five pronch approach for rapid exports growth, i.e.
