GDP goes up 7.2% in third quarter

Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, gross domestic product (GDP) in the nine months of 2007 increased by 7.6%.

In the 3rd quarter of 2007 GDP grew by 7.2 percent in comparison to the corresponding period of the previous year.

Regarding the activities, the growth is noted as follows: the section of transport – 24.2%, the section of financial intermediation – 20.0%, the section of trade – 18.1%, the section of hotels and restaurants – 8.1%, the section of electricity, gas and water supplay – 5.4% and the section of manufacturing – 4.3%. The section of construction shows a fall of 2.2%.

Thus the 7.2 percent increase of 3rd quarter GDP was mainly due to increases in the section of transport (2.7 percentage points), the section of trade (1.7 percentage points), section of financial intermediation (1.2 percentage points) and the section of manufacturing (0.6 percentage points). The contributions to the increase in real GDP by all other activities were either negative or lower than the aforementioned.
