The overall external trade in the Republic of Serbia, for the period January - December 2007 amounted to as under.
• USD 27175.2 million, which was a 38.6% increase compared to the same period 2006; • EUR 19790.9 million, which was a 27.2% increase compared to the same period 2006.
The value of exports amounted to USD 8824.8 million, which was a 37.3% increase when compared to the same period last year, while the value of imports amounted to USD 18350.4 million, which was a 39.3% increase relative to the same period last year.
Expressed in Euros, the value of exports amounted to EUR 6432.2 million, which was an increase of 26.1%, compared to the same period last year. The value of imports amounted to EUR 13358.7 million, which was a 27.7% increase when compared to the same period last year.
The deficit amounted to USD 9525.6 million, which was an increase of 41.2% in relation to the same period last year. The deficit expressed in Euros amounted to 6926.4 million, which was an increase of 29.2% compared to the same period last year.
The export - import ratio equaled 48.1% and was lower if compared to the same period last year when it was 48.8%, as a consequence of faster imports growth in the last two months.
The exports increase is the result of: • The so far effected privatization and companies re-structuring, as well as the executed and ratified agreements on free trade with the countries signatories of the Stability Pact, which are now integrated in the CEFTA agreement;
