Textile exports marks a remarkable rise of 29.94%

It was in 1940, that the Government of Denizli came up with the first cotton yarn and cloth factory which gradually led to an increase in the production of the weaving industry.
Thus, it became possible to distribute massive amounts of weaving products to every part of Turkey. Rapid development of textile sector in Denizli has been the major reason behind the success achieved by Turkey in the area.
Denizli excels in the production of quality cotton and it is largely because of this, that textile products woven in the region were also used by the Ottoman Palace.
Experts have observed a steady growth since 2006. Textile exports from Aegean Province of Denizli in the month of February 2008, rose by 29.94 percent and reached US $103.8 million.
Moreover, according to the statistics gathered from Denizli Textile and Apparel Exporters' Union, bathrobe/dressing gown, towel and linen saw an increase of 28.04, 28.18 and 57.24 percent respectively.
Besides, cotton woven and knitted fabric also showed a respective rise of 19 and 73.33 percent.
Most of the exports were made to countries like Germany, Britain and US. Meanwhile total textile imports of European countries from Denizli in January and February reached $149.2 million.
