Promoting bilateral trade relations between Italy and India, particularly in the textile sector, is the cornerstone of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the Indian Chamber of Commerce for Italy (ICCI) and the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) of India, yesterday.
AEPC Chairman Mr A Saktivel and ICCI Executive President signed a MOU at a ceremony held in Tirupur, last night.
Both, AEPC and ICCI have agreed to cooperate and apply their forte in enhancing the textile value chain.
The associations will work to uphold free trade and fair market access principles and ensure unrestricted movement of textiles and clothing.
Conducting trade fairs, bring manufacturers and dealers through exclusive meets, promoting strategic alliances between yarns, fabrics and clothing manufacturers in both the countries are certain aspects mooted in the MOU.
Identifying and exploring avenues for attracting foreign investment, recommending Joint Ventures and undertaking regular investment promotion missions, have all been covered under the agreement.
