Ginni Filaments to diversify into non-woven spunlace & FMCG

Textile Company Ginni Filaments has plans to set up a plant in Gujarat, to manufacture non-woven spunlace at an investment of Rs 131 crore.

Bulk of the producton will be exported, where as balance will be used for manufacturing converted products like cleansing cloth and facial wipes for domestic market.

It further plans foray in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) segment bringing out personal hygiene and beauty care products for women and children.

Marketing opportunities for personal care products worth Rs 15,000 crore exist in products like baby wipes, cleansing cloths and medical purpose gauges and swabs, informs Saket Jaipuria, Chief Executive Officer, Ginni Filaments.

After a soft launch and trial of the product range in Chandigarh, it would be made available in eight cities by June, and a nation wide launch is intended by December end, this year.

Company's emphasis will be on retailing its product range in local department stores, and institutional sales by targeting airlines and railways.

Sanjay Srivastava, Chief Operating Officer, Ginni Filaments, said that pricing strategy relies on offering a pack of 80 baby wipes for Rs 105, intending to generate revenue through volume sales.

The company plans to achieve a 50 percent market share and Rs 50 crore turnover in the non-woven wipes segment by 2007-08, they conveyed.
