Milliken & Company wins 2013 R&D 100 award

Conceal Camouflage Technology is a wearable technology applied to textiles designed to camouflage personnel from thermal imaging and other infrared detection devices. Conceal not only provides concealment from thermal imaging devices, it also incorporates concealment in the visible, near, and short wave infrared regions of the spectrum.

It is a versatile technology that can be applied to a wide variety of fabrics, including the daily uniforms worn by soldiers and security personnel today. Because it is also comfortable, Conceal can be part of the standard uniform, not just an item soldiers wear when they think they need protection.

Conceal works in both warm and cold climates, and, by varying the pattern and colors of the material, it is effective in a variety of environments ranging from urban to desert to jungle.

Milliken & Company licensed the Conceal technology from SSZ Camouflage Technology AG on October 15, 2012, the first time the technology has been available to the U.S. market.
