A 53-year-old factory - Alice Manufacturing Company making fabrics and yarns, will soon close down, rendering 260 employees without jobs.
Imports from Asian countries is the main cause cited for deterioration of its business.
Due to huge inflow of cheap imports from Asia, customer base of the unit eroded, hinted Smyth McKissick III, Chairman of the family owned company.
He added that the decision to close down, necessitated due to the global textile market conditions, which led to American companies being vulnerable to price competition.
