Denim, sportswear and workwear producer Avondale Mills Inc in Sylacauga and Pell City is schedule to close down by 25 July 2006 with its 100-workforce stranded.
All employees may not lose their jobs at once, as there is a lot of potential for future use of these plants.
There is a possibility of the sale of Avondale Company's plants before ending operation.
However, the sale of the company's Alexander City and Rockford plants and a plant in South Carolina to Parkdale Mills has been completed.
Cotton and cotton blend yarns manufacturer Parkdale is a 90-year-old North Carolina textile company and headquartered in Gastonia, N.C.
The purchase of these facilities by Parkdale saved some 400 jobs.
People are thus optimistic that someone will buy these plants and develop them into some other businesses.
