ElkCorp acquires Tyler plant

Tyler Refrigeration's closed plant in Waxahachie is being purchased by Elk Performance Nonwoven Fabrics Inc., a division of Elk Premium Building Products Inc., or ElkCorp, according to sources.
Elk Performance Nonwoven Fabrics has moved to sales of both fiberglass and polyester mat for a variety of non-roofing markets in addition to sales of its original roofing material.
Compnay spokesperson informed that company has purchased entire Tyler facility and would initially be moving in products to use the facility as a distribution center and shipping to its customers from that site.
At the Tyler facility, the company is considering to take the same fiberglass fabric and put waterproof and a fire barrier on it for use in industrial applications.
Initially the plant will start with a small work crew and by November it will have newly hired entry level workforce as new products and manufacturing are moved to the plant.
