Under the new IFRS standard, the choice was made to classify the group in three divisions: Coating, Apparel and Industrial Applications.

The EMB and Inducolor business units (both of which produce colour pigments) have been added to the Coating division, so that it now consists of a fully vertically and horizontally integrated chain. We start with the extrusion of high tenacity yarns, which are then woven into technical base material and coated with a colour paste. These coated fabrics are then used by various customers to make tents, tarpaulins, pool covers, protective clothing, mattress covers and other products.

Sioen is the only company in the world to employ five different coating techniques:

- Direct coating. In this technique, a PVC coating paste is applied directly to the fabric. Application fields include tarpaulins for trucks, publicity banners and gym mats.

- Transfer coating. In this technique, polyurethane paste is applied to a fabric via a paper support. Application fields include protective clothing, mattress covers and airbags.

- Online coating. In this technique, the woven fabric passes through a coating bath before it rolls off the loom. This technique is mainly used for geotextiles, pool covers, reinforcement nets and so on.

- Extrusion coating. A multifunctional coating process that can be used to coat numerous materials (woven fabrics, non-wovens, knitted fabrics, etc.) with various polymers.

- Rolling/Calendering. In this technique, rollers are used to produce industrial films to which specific grains are then added. These films are used for dashboards, door panels, sun shades and so on.
