Instead of opening new store, United Carpets concentrated on reviewing its weakest stores.
United Carpets, with 60 stores in northern and central England, generated pre-tax profits of £406,000, a hike of 6.8 percent and turnover of £9 million with increase of 17.4 percent for six months till September 30.
United, which operates on a franchise basis, has only 12 corporate stores. In past six months, company closed two outlets and changed five franchisees.
After this, company opened new stores at Ripley, Stockport and Coventry. It also has stores Bolton, Chorley, Rochdale, Urmston, Manchester, Nelson, Preston, Southport and St Helens.
Out of 12 corporate stores, four will be handed over to franchisee, two will be closed and remaining six will be used for training and product development.
