The E.T. Horn Company, a leading distributor, supplier, marketer, and manufacturer of specialty chemicals, announced that it will participate in the upcoming American Composites Manufacturing Association (ACMA) “Composites and Polycon-2007” convention in Florida. The show dates are October 17 through 19 and will convene at the Tampa Bay Convention Center.
E.T. Horn will feature the latest basalt fiber from Kamenny Vek, the world's leading producer of basalt fibers used for composite reinforcement, civil engineering, thermal insulation, and plastics applications. The Moscow-based company recently earned ISO Quality Certification; specifically, their quality management system is now in accordance with the International Standard ISO 9001:2000.
Southern California-based E.T. Horn was selected by Kamenny Vek to represent and distribute their proprietary basalt fiber exclusively throughout North America. High-performance fiber made from basalt is well suited for myriad demanding composites applications including wind energy, ballistics, filament wound cylinders and pipes, and infrastructure repair.
Group Vice President Jay Fitzpatrick commented about the relevance of composites in the global economy: “Just yesterday in the headlines, Boeing and Airbus remarked about composites and how they play such a huge part in the manufacturing of today's faster and lighter aircraft,” he said.
“Obviously, it's of immense importance that raw materials be of the highest quality in any manufacturing capacity, especially in the aviation industry. Our R&D team conducted a worldwide quest to find the highest quality basalt, and our research led us to Kamenny Vek. When you consider their new state of the art manufacturing plant and now their ISO certification, we are eager to present the product line in Tampa.”
