MarketLive Inc, the leader in eCommerce software and solutions, announced that New York-based Modell's Sporting Goods, America's oldest family-owned and operated sporting goods retailer, selected MarketLive to build and launch a new eCommerce site to appeal to its generations of sports fans and athletes throughout the country.

Modell's conducted a long and comprehensive search of eCommerce technology providers to create an online site that would appeal to sporting goods consumers across the U.S.. MarketLive was selected for its Intelligent eCommerce Platform technology and robust suite of eCommerce features. MarketLive was also chosen for its long term partnership approach and commitment to Modell's business goals.

Working in partnership with Modell's, MarketLive has provided a custom-built new site with powerful merchandising components. From the time of launch, customers can shop for fan gear by their favorite sports team, favorite player, and by the various leagues including NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, NCAA, NASCAR and more. Modell's will continue to bring additional business units onto the site over the course of the year including athletic footwear, active apparel and sporting goods to mirror the retailer's in-store offerings.

MarketLive's Intelligent eCommerce Platform allowed for seamless integration of email and mobile applications. MarketLive's Intelligent Imaging technology was also integrated, which allows online customers to see products in countless ways. The new site includes enhanced search and navigation.

"We chose MarketLive, first for its commitment to our business, and also for its best-in-class technology. It was clear that they had an understanding of our customers and how to create an online experience that matches the experience in our stores," said Mitchell Modell, CEO and latest member of the family in four generations to run the company. "We were looking for a long-term partnership and we found it in MarketLive. We are confident that the shopping experience they create for our eCommerce site will attract the athlete and fan in everyone."

"We couldn't be happier to be working with Modell's to create a shopping experience that works for athletes and sports fans everywhere," said Mark Pierce, CEO of MarketLive. "Our Intelligent Commerce Platform will provide Modell's with an eCommerce technology that they can rely on and that offers performance, reliability, and flexibility for years to come."

Founded in 1889, Modell's Sporting Goods is the local family sporting goods destination that provides a convenient and compelling shopping experience for the athlete and fan in all of us. Modell's offers customers an assortment of top brands in sporting goods equipment, athletic footwear, active apparel and fan gear for every level of play and season year round.
