At the EURO ID 2009, the European AutoID trade fair, RF-iT Solutions GmbH introduces the new You-R OPEN release 3.4. The proven RFID/AutoID middleware You-R OPEN of the Austrian solutions provider and software company RF-iT Solutions contributes successfully to shortening the way to RFID-assisted processes in companies. In addition to its simple technical feasibility, the scalable software platform for RFID use also convinces from an economic point of view.

You-R OPEN has been applied very successfully in various industries, above all the textile, automotive and pharmaceuticals industries, for several years and has received a number of awards due to this performance. “You-R OPEN enables existing software at companies to optimally process data from the RFID processes, irrespective of the readers and tags used”, explains Managing Director Dominik Berger.

The operating environment thus represents the link between the RFID hardware and the existing IT infrastructure. “The configurable and programmable local process logic at the identification point has turned out to be very helpful for system integrators in numerous AutoID projects and significantly reduces integration costs as well as the lead time of projects”, says Berger.

Now even more user-friendly
The new version 3.4, which has been available for sale via listed partners for a short time, now also supports Microsoft Vista and is thus compatible with all current MS workstation and server versions. With the new command line tool, which is integrated into the Administration Suite of You-R OPEN, the management of larger installations is even easier and more efficiently to administrate.

In addition, the updated version has an RF-Power configuration for all integrated RFID end devices, including antennas. “Moreover, the list of fully supported end devices was extended again”, explains Berger. To open up new application areas rapidly, SIP2 was integrated as an interface, enabling an effective connection to library systems. “The You R OPEN platform, which is easy to implement and administrate for system integrators anyway, has taken another important step towards the reduction of operation costs and the scalability of systems”, RFID expert Berger emphasizes.

Solutions for “false positive reads”
Starting with the new version 3.4, RF-iT Solutions also provides solutions for selective reading of UHF Gen2 transponders. UHF Gen2 transponders can achieve read ranges of several meters. “This way, not only those things that you want to read in the process are recorded, but also other transponders located nearby”, says Berger. RF-iT Solutions now offers its partners technology consulting and the corresponding tested solutions through the new software functionality.
