La Perla cuts IT costs with IBM Desktop Cloud & Wyse

Wyse Technology, the global leader in thin computing and client virtualization, announced that La Perla, one of the world's leading luxury clothing designers, selected IBM and Wyse to help improve its desktop capabilities and cut energy and IT costs with the use of IBM's Smart Business Desktop Cloud solution.
Cloud computing can give end-users easy access to the critical information they need remotely, from various devices, including desktops and thin clients, virtually anywhere. IBM helps organizations benefit from this model with desktop services that are designed to enable end-users that have network-attached PCs and thin clients to access applications and data through a centrally managed computing environment.
“Today more than ever, enterprises need an affordable, reliable and efficient way to deploy and manage desktop infrastructures,” says Jan Jackman, Vice President, End User Services & Cloud Infrastructure, IBM Global Technology Services. “Using IBM's desktop cloud service, La Perla is realizing improved end user services and significant cost reductions.”
As a leading fashion company, La Perla needed a flexible and agile desktop solution to meet new and changing business demands, while also reducing its overall IT spending. By working with IBM, La Perla is now operating Wyse virtual clients, with the flexibility of adding more, on its private desktop cloud solution. As a result, La Perla is benefiting from 50 percent cost reduction in support and operational costs, 85 percent reduction in energy costs and a cost avoidance of almost $100,000 by deployment of new Wyse clients.
