JDA Software Group Inc, The Supply Chain Company, announced that The Talbots Inc, a leading specialty retailer and direct marketer of women's apparel, shoes and accessories, has selected JDA Allocation to optimize product allocations at its 580 stores located in 46 U.S. states, the District of Columbia and Canada.

JDA Allocation's proven scalability and flexibility can help Talbots eliminate the manual process of creating store-specific allocations based on inventory and assortment plans for new and existing products. The retailer selected JDA Managed Services to handle the long-term, day-to-day management and operation of JDA Allocation. Taking a managed services approach will help Talbots realize a faster return on its technology investment. The company will also benefit from having its chain managed by professionals using best-practice knowledge built on JDA's 25 years of broad and deep industry experience.

“We believe the functionality of JDA Allocation will enhance our ability to allocate product to the right store at the right time,” said John Kovac, senior vice president and chief information officer, Talbots. “Combining JDA Managed Services with JDA's breadth of retail experience will help us bring value to the business as quickly as possible while reducing risk to the overall project.”

“Companies like Talbots realize that JDA's industry-leading Allocation solution can help them integrate and streamline their allocation processes. We believe that leveraging JDA Managed Services to provide quick access to the software, ongoing solution support and management will give Talbots a competitive advantage by improving the company's total cost of ownership and reducing risk posed to the day-to-day business,” said Wayne Usie, JDA's senior vice president, retail.
