Robyn will sharing her experiences as a fashion designer who has been successfully exporting her label “Ruby” over the world.

Biography:
RUBY is an independent lingerie and accessory brand based in Cape Town that specializes in original, uniquely styled, sumptuous lingerie and contemporary beaded jewellerry. Owner and designer Robyn Lidsky continues to inspire the label with signature, original hand writing and her fresh take on traditional African beadwork techniques.

All beaded jewellery produced for RUBY is hand made by the Ruby Beading Circle – a job creation initiative for women bead workers based in Khayelitsha, Cape Town. These jewellery pieces fuse traditional Xhosa beading techniques with contemporary design trends to create an indigenous “home grown” South African aesthetic.

The Spring 2005/06 lingerie collection features art nouveau rose motif prints, corset inspired lingerie styles and sporty airtex mixed with feminine laces. Colour comprises off beat signature contrasts like pistachio with dark pink; neon peach with lilac; turquoise with neon pink; maroon with peach and black with baby pink. Metallic gold is combined with all over laces and purple lurex mixed with ballerina print mesh.

There is something for everyone in this collection with selection from camisoles to be worn as outerwear, signature hipster panty or “broekie”, g-strings, and coordinating fancy wear-me-to-bed panty & bra sets, soft cup bra and new style under wire bra that is both plunging and balconette (our new bra line now goes up to D cup). All lingerie is proudly manufactured in South Africa using imported fabrics and the crème de la crème of French laces.
