Halco USA, a supplier of Hook and Loop Fastening systems, is helping its partners design Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and workplace safety products. As the COVID-19 crisis transitions from a national emergency to a post-pandemic recovery, businesses and non-emergency healthcare providers want solutions to protect employees, customers and patients.

From the early days of the crisis, Halco has been working with business partners in medical, industrial, exhibit and print segments to rapidly design and deliver PPE solutions to frontline workers and essential businesses.

Insulfab, a premier converter of foams, fibreglass and plastics based in Coppell, Texas, partnered with Halco to source essential components to fabricate disposable face shields for front line and essential workers.

Halco partnered with Zatkoff Seals and Packaging in Farmington Hills, Michigan to produce COVID-19 face shields. Zatkoff sourced many components for the face shield including, brow foam pads, elastic bands, clear PETG/APET surgical grade plastic with hook and a loop fastening systems supplied by Halco.

Halco has also enabled partners in the tradeshow, exhibit, large format print and retail display industries to pivot from areas hit hard by the shutdown and focus on infection control solutions that allow businesses to safely resume operations during the recovery and into the future.

Halco is able to respond quickly and provide customers with re-closeable fastening systems and flexible converting services to help them meet this new demand with a large inventory reserve to meet a sudden spike in demand, fast cut-to-length service for sew-on and adhesive backed fasteners, rotary die cutting and lamination for applications requiring specific shapes and adhesives, and application expertise for new projects including product suitability, life of product, adhesives and custom packaging.

“Our company is both innovative and adaptive," commented Guy Fussell, managing director of Halco USA. “We are using that spirit of innovation, in cooperation with many of our customers and partners, to solve problems posed by the crisis and the “new normal” that lies ahead.”

Typical PPE and workplace safety products manufactured by HALCO partners include face masks and N95 respirators, eye and face shields for full face protection, sneeze guards and protective barriers, gowns and protective clothing, and barriers, curtains and temporary shelters.

Halco works with each partner to design the ideal fastening solution, source the materials, provide precision converting and fabricating services, and manage inventory levels to ensure a steady supply.

“We remain fully committed to our traditional products and areas of industry focus,” noted Guy Fussell. “At the same time, our COVID-19 solutions will meet a new demand for PPE while helping partners to restore revenue sources impacted by the crisis. We are agile enough to cover all the bases.”
