Leading Hong Kong-based company, Crystal, has been putting continued effort in promoting gender equality by empowering women employees with P.A.C.E. training, especially when women account for 70 per cent of the total workforce at Crystal. Crystal has been the first approved global vendor to deliver hybrid P.A.C.E. programme with online learning.

P.A.C.E., a women empowerment programme by Gap, aims to empower front-line female workers in the garment industry to equip them with work and personal skills for better individual development and career enhancement. The denim factory in China was the first factory of the group to launch P.A.C.E. programme in 2012. So far, seven batches and a total of 1,800 students have graduated from this programme. The P.A.C.E. journey significantly impacts the students, trainers, and company. With the success of the programme, it was later expanded to other countries such as Vietnam, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Crystal said in a media statement.

In 2019, the evolving COVID-19 pandemic did not deter the company from empowering the employees. The denim factory in China realised the importance of online training and thus proactively launched the pioneering digital P.A.C.E. programme by combining both online and offline learning. Around 150 students graduated from digital P.A.C.E. and their feedback was positive. The online learning journey enabled the students to learn anytime, anywhere, which is more convenient and time-saving. Such P.A.C.E. training earned satisfaction and recognition from Gap, and went completely online in 2020, with 150 and 500 students graduating in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

The training lessons in animated videos comprise of five modules, including communication, problem solving and decision making, time and stress management, health and excellence execution. With such knowledge, the employees can perform more professionally at work and lead a better personal life for self-improvement. They become more proactive, cultivate positive thinking, and form a harmonious working environment. Their work efficiency and quality have also significantly improved while some of them are promoted to line leaders.

In the era of post-pandemic, online learning brings flexibility and convenience with the advanced technology. Following the success of hybrid P.A.C.E. programme in China, Crystal will further expand the hybrid programme to other operating countries including Vietnam and Cambodia, to generate positive social impact in the industry globally.
