Bemis debuts fully bonded breathable waistbands

Bemis Associates has launched fully bonded waistbands, developed with Flowfree technology for ultimate breathability.

According to Bemis, for the first time, designers can create bonded Sewfree waistbands for technical and high-performance garments in the sportswear market.

Bemis has developed three waistbands which allow for custom construction based on hand feel, modulus, stretch and recovery, with the Flowfree technology not allowing retaining moisture.

“With Flowfree, waistbands facilitate the circulation of hot air and moisture away from the body, and allow cool air in and have also proven to be up to 21 per cent lighter and dry up to 28 percent faster,” the company said.

Lacey Johnson, global brand manager at Bemis Associates said, “We identified the waistband as a component where Sewfree's performance benefits could improve the overall functionality of the garment.”

“After intensive R&D we created multiple executions for a bonded waistband that have been tested and proven at our partners factories,” she added.

Bemis has also released seven new Sewfree products, including three within the Flowfree family, Chromaflex Mother of Pearl, Exoshield, Exoflex, and Nylock.

“The new product line arms brands with more ways to bridge performance and fashion categories while providing ease of customisation to stand out in the marketplace,” Bemis stated. (AR)
