Swedish retail giant IKEA recently conducted a session titled ‘Living with Children’ in Hyderabad to give insights into its product range design for children and offered a preview of its India plans for kids. The workshop gave an overview of what Indian consumers should expect from IKEA’s kids product range, as its first store is opens in the city in July.

The company visits homes in key markets to understand what motivates and hinders play and how people across cultures think about play, Mia Olsson Tunér, country communication and design manager, IKEA, said.

The company also has conversations with futurologists, child psychologists, teachers, play experts and online communities to understand play so that inputs from all that research are incorporated into how IKEA builds its furniture combinations, toys and storage solutions for children, he said.

The company’s India stores will bring in bestsellers like the SLÄKT collection, furniture range designed for kids aged eight and upwards that can be changed as per needs, Indian media reported quoting a press release from the company. (DS)
