India's first design development centre 'Fashionova' was recently launched in Surat to provide a platform to apparel business aspirants. It offers scope to fulfil all business needs from co-working space, technicians, expert advice to cognitive workshops and industry exposure. It will also reduce Surat’s dependence on Delhi and Mumbai for its design needs.
"There are many fashion institutes in the country, but our objective is not just to teach fashion design. The design centre was inaugurated in the presence Paris-based-designer Neona Skane and Bollywood celebrity designer Salim Asgarally, according to a press release from Institute of Design and Technology in Surat.
Fashionova is part of the start-up scheme of the government. (DS)
