The state government in India’s eastern state of Odisha recently opened a Footwear Training Centre in capital city Bhubaneswar. The centre has been set up by the Institute of Entrepreneurship Development Odisha (IEDO) in association with Central Footwear Training Institute, Agra, under the central ministry of micro small and medium enterprises (MSME).
Two programmes — a one-year advanced certificate in footwear design and product development and a six-months certificate programme in footwear design and production — will start there from February next in the first phase.The state government in India's eastern state of Odisha recently opened a Footwear Training Centre in capital city Bhubaneswar. In the second phase, an 18-months post graduate diploma course in footwear industry entrepreneurship and development, will start, according to a report in a leading English-language daily.
The state, which at present has around 100 footwear and leather product units, aims to hike that number to 1,000 in the next few years. (DS)
