Japanese apparel firm Goldwin delivers 40% sales growth in Q1

Goldwin Inc, a Japanese sports apparel manufacturer, has reported 40.0 per cent sales growth to ¥17.0 billion (Japanese Yen) in first quarter (Q1) of FY21 ended on June 30, 2021, compared to the sales of ¥12.2 billion in the corresponding period of prior year. Operating profit in the quarter rose to ¥1.1 billion against loss of ¥0.5 billion in Q1 FY20.
 
The company’s gross profit grew to ¥8.9 billion (¥6.3 billion), while selling, general and administrative expenses were ¥7.8 billion (¥6.7 billion). Profit during the three-month period increased to ¥1.2 billion (loss: ¥0.3 billion).
 
In its forecast for the first half (H1) ending on September 30, 2021, the Japanese firm expects sales to climb 30.9 per cent to ¥41.3 billion over previous year. Operating profit is expected to surge 122.3 per cent to ¥2.7 billion against H1 FY20.
