Denim brand Blacksoul to open EBOs in Indian cities

Mumbai-based denim label Blacksoul is focusing on retail expansion and is planning to open exclusive brand outlets (EBOs) in Indian cities.
Blacksoul is a highly fashionable complete jeans wear brand launched in India in 2009 by Aastha Design Pvt. Ltd., in collaboration with Italian high fashion company Dimensioni, based in Milan.
The company has its own production units both in India and abroad. It has already set up its retail outlets in Delhi and Mumbai.
“We plan to open EBOs in all metros and cities of India. Initially, we would like to target Chandigarh, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Chennai, Cochin, Ahmedabad and Linking Road in Mumbai,” Mr. Sanjay Anand, Director Marketing, Aastha Designs informed fibre2fashion.
Explaining the rationale behind retail expansion at a time when the world is apprehending recession once again, he says, “This is the churning time and not recession. The current financial crisis in Europe and the US is actually going to affect developed countries more than India. Due to its inherent strength, India will be able to pass through this phase.”
Briefing about target customers and products of the company, he states, “Young individuals in the age group of 18 to 34 years are our target consumers. Blacksoul offers highly dynamic styles and fits and product extension is an ongoing exercise at our end. Besides jeans in various fits, our product range includes trousers, blouses, skirts, shorts, T-shirts, jackets, etc.”
Giving his opinion about allowing foreign direct investment (FDI) into retail segment, Mr. Anand says, “A country like India does not need FDI, as it has the resources, strength, innovation and creativity to build business for all different categories of consumers.”
