Cooperation between MSF and Inditex

Since its signature, the Framework Cooperating Agreement between MSF and Inditex has enabled and channelled funding into projects in a number of countries, while also covering ad-hoc emergency aid programs. In 2012, for example, as well as the above-mentioned projects in India, Inditex earmarked €0.5 million to two MSF programs destined to provide medical and humanitarian aid to immigrants in Greece and Morocco originating from Asia and Africa and from sub-Saharan Africa, respectively.

Inditex also collaborated with MSF on emergency relief in Mali last year, donating €0.5 million to a project designed to facilitate access to free medical care for refugees forced to leave their homes due to the conflict affecting their country. Inditex also donates €300,000 a year to finance MSF’s Emergency Aid Unit which in 2012 alone was active in Uganda, Congo, Syria, Mali and South Sudan, among other places. Lastly, in 2012 Inditex gave €0.5 million to MSF’s fight against HIV in Zimbabwe under the umbrella of the Positive Generation initiative.

Inditex’s partnership with MSF is part of the Group’s broader social investing strategy which encompasses a series of community initiatives carried out with a series of independent entities with expertise in the various projects’ respective spheres of geographic influence. Against this backdrop, MSF is an international medical humanitarian organization with a presence in over 70 countries and roughly 500 live projects underway. Its overriding mission is to assist populations in distress, victims of natural or man-made disasters and victims of armed conflict.
