Adequate electricity is all that Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) demands.

Tipu Munshi, President of BGMEA requested government to save apparel industry of country by supplying uninterrupted power supply for 8 to 10 hours a day. Due to lack of power supply, industry could not meet export deadlines.

He also said that as RMG units employ women workers, they must run during daytime.

However, Iqbal Hasan Mahmood, State Minister for Power, did not promise of immediate solution and offered recommendations including load management to improve power supply.

The minister also said use of energy-saving bulbs is immediate measure to improve power situation.

Power Division Secretary ANH Akhtar Hossain attributed lack of organized urban planning for poor transmission and distribution system of electricity.
