AEPC to set up study centres in North & Western India

Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) of India will shortly open a study centre at Gurgaon that will provide necessary fillip to clothing industry.

K.K Jalan, Secretary General, AEPC, stated this while chairing an exporters convention, arranged by the council to take note of the enquiries generated by the exporters.

Jalan said, "The study centre arrangement is all set to come up during this fiscal at a preliminary cost of Rs 8 crores."

It boost clothing trade and Ludhiana can take most advantage as the town has lot of potentional exporters, he added.

Research centre will work in tandem with the concerted efforts of the association and industries, informed Jalan.

He explained that in the fiscal 2005-06, AEPC trained 5,500 personnel at their various training centres as well as at Ludhiana centre and most have been placed within the industry.

Jalan said, "About 40 percent those trained were women workers from countryside and several among them received two or more job offers."

The council hopes to train 10,000 workers like sewing machine operators and supervisors etc.

Four new centres are also planned at Bhuvaneshwar, Surat and Kanpur, concluded Jalan.
