Fire breaking out in the two garment factories has taken one life and injured several others causing extensive monetary damage that may exceed Tk10 crore.

Within a period of twelve hours, two companies Benarasi Palli at Section No. 11, Mirpur on Thursday morning and other at Section No. 12, Mirpur on Wednesday night were engulfed in fire and it further caught Pioneer Garments which was close by as well.

People were ignorant about the exact cause of fire but did not deny the possibility of some mischief.

The factory at Section No. 12, Mirpur was a joint venture between Hong Kong and local firm and the fire burnt machines used to make cloths and T-shirts.

The extent of damage in monetary terms is estimated at Tk10 crore but the damage it has caused to the garment production will certainly have an adverse impact on the market as the production from three factories will take time.
