Pacific Sunwear net retail sales down 4% in August

Specialty retailer of casual apparel, accessories and footwear, Pacific Sunwear of California Inc reported that total sales for the four weeks of fiscal August ending August 26, 2006 were $168.8 million, a decrease of 4.0 percent over total sales of $175.7 million during the same period last year.
Total Company same-store sales decreased 9.4 percent during the same period. By concept, PacSun same-store sales decreased 8.9 percent and d.e.m.o. same-store sales decreased 14.1 percent compared to the same four week period last year.
Total sales for the first 30 weeks of fiscal 2006 were $782.3 million, an increase of 2.3 percent over total sales of $764.8 million during the same period last year. Total Company same-store sales decreased 5.0 percent during the same period. By concept, PacSun same-store sales decreased 4.9 percent and d.e.m.o. same-store sales decreased 5.7 percent compared to the same 30 week period last year.
