National Garment Workers Federation (NGWF) and Bangladesh Garment Industry Labour Federation (BGILF) have warned the Government that if their demand for increase in their salary was not met, they would resort to tough measures to push through their demands.
These measure will include siege, road blockade and other means if the agreement for new wages signed on June, 12 is not implemented immediately.
As per schedule, fresh wages were scheduled to be declared on August, 31 in accordance with the tripartite agreement signed by the labour organizations, owners and the Government; but the deadline had crossed and the Government was silent on the issue.
President of BGILF and leader of 16-Garments Organisation, Md Tauhidur Rahman has warned that the garment industry would suffer badly if the Government went back on its words.
The aggrieved work force has announced a number of programmes that includes holding rallies and processions in places like Gazipur, Tejgaon, Mirpur and Ashulia and in other industrial areas of ready-made garments from August, 03 to 08.
