Now couples try to reduce the effect of their nuptials on environment. 'Green Weddings' now means recycled wedding dresses, guests arriving by bicycle, home-grown flowers and locally produced food for the wedding buffet.
People like to serve home grown lettuces and tomatoes during the marriage to feed guests.
Not only the ceremonies are environmentally responsive invited guests are also being cautious while choosing their gifts.
Environmental groups WWF and Friends of the Earth have launched their services for weddings. Guests can donate to charities on behalf of just married couples.
