The Goa government is mulling over plan to set up a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the state.
At a conference on SEZ organized by Diocesan Service Centre for Social Action with Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Luizinho Faleiro, Minister for Industries informed that the moti of government behind establishing SEZ in the state is to generate employment.
Minister said that SEZ will include plants for IT, gems and jewelry units. Biotech and garment industries are also considered. However, the government had not yet identified a location for the proposed plan.
Stressing on the requirement for skilled manpower, Faleiro minister stated that the ministry re-activate the Manpower Development Cell, which was ended by the former government.
The minister also added that the government was considering re-introduction of the order to employ 80 percent Goans for all industires establishing units in Goa.
