According to Ministry of Commerce report, country earned the biggest revenue from the exports of cotton garment products, accounting for 45.49 percent of total apparel export turnover of Thailand in the first seven months 2007.

During the period, Thailand enterprises fetched US $784.22 million from exports of cotton products. However, a drop of 10.45 percent can be observed in comparison with same period last year.

Other export products that suffered a dip include clothings made from synthetic fibre worth $433.88 million, plunging 1.15 percent, woolen garment at $23.34 million, down 19.02 percent, baby apparel at $143.22 million, decreasing 1.52 percent and outfits made from other materials comprised $331.85 million, representing a fall of 9.44 percent.

From January to July this year, Thailand earned around $1.93 billion from exports of garments, representing 4.34 percent drop from same period in 2006.

This decline is seen for most garment products because the country and the garment and textile industry in particular has been facing many difficulties resulting from unstable politics and economic crisis.
