Export of waistcoat scales up

According to statistics recently released by General Custom Office, Vietnam exported 559,300 waistcoats for US $2.27 million in the month of September 2008, down 11.1 percent in volume, but up 51.8 percent in value in comparison to previous month.
In total, export value of this product reached $21.8 million during the first three quarter 2008, showcasing a hike of 13.1 percent year-on-year, while the export quantity was 3.7 million products, decreased 8.6 percent.
Experts are of the opinion, even though, exports of waistcoat experienced a rise in the previous quarters, it is expected that in the last quarter of the ongoing year, there may be a plunge.
The average export price in these nine months stood at $5.82 each unit, FOB. The quoted price decreased by 5.1 percent as compared to same period last year.
