Pakistan’s Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) will set up 1,000 industrial stitching units under different phases of the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). The commerce and textile ministry (MoCT) and SMEDA have signed an agreement regarding this. In the first phase, 150 such units will be established in three years.

The ministry is sponsoring the project.

SMEDA will design an operational manual for the project to monitor and supervise the implementation process, and will designate its staff across provincial and regional offices for the project.

The agreement is valid for the next three years which will be extended automatically for another period of same duration, according to an SMEDA press release. (DS)
