Fair Wear, a non-profit organisation that works to improve conditions for garment workers, has added its first five new garment brands of 2021. The brands are all committed to improving the working conditions of garment workers. Every year, Fair Wear reviews and publicly reports on how well brands are doing this in their annual performance checks.

The first brand added to Fair Wear is Munro Tailoring, an Amsterdam-based company creating a new era of menswear with its brand, Atelier Munro, a brand that helps curate a wardrobe tailored for a person, according to their personal style, Fair Wear said in a media statement.

The second brand is Olymp, a German fine menswear company. It includes two brands; Olymp and Marvelis. Oylmp stands for high-quality materials and workmanship, outstanding wear and care benefits and responsible action in the manufacture of all our products in men’s shirts, knitwear, sweat-wear and accessories. Marvelis is a provider of smart men’s shirts, knitwear and sweatwear that impress through their high wearing and care comfort as well as fashionability, according to Fair Wear.

Hakro is a German workwear brand that makes reliable, perfectly designed textiles that support people in their daily working lives. The next brand, Selective, is a British womenswear company with two brands; Poetry and Wrap. Poetry is a brand with a love of natural fabrics and a desire to produce beautiful clothes that can be enjoyed for years to come. Designed to elevate everyday dressing, Wrap London clothes are defined by distinctive details, exquisite embroidery, unique colours and intricate stitching. The last brand is Icebug, which is a footwear brand from Sweden that aims to save the world from slipping and get people outdoors, Fair Wear said.

“It is positive to note that despite this extremely difficult year, clothing brands are embracing social sustainability as an integral part of their business. It confirms that more and more brands are eager to change the industry for good, because they know that sustainable businesses are more resilient, more successful businesses,” Fair Wear director, Alexander Kohnstamm said in a press release.
