AGV automatic guided vehicles developed by garment manufacturer Asteks reduce the need for workmanship in material transportation within the facility, while increasing the efficiency and quality of work. This automation device, which is compatible with the Industry 4.0 concept, also prevents man-related accidents in the transportation of cargo.

Asteks, which has a 50-year history in apron, sleeve, and production technologies, does not only add power to textile industry with its innovative solutions. The company’s long-standing R&D studies, the 101- AGV automatic guidance tool, has achieved successful results both from the first use of its own plant and in the major manufacturers of the textile sector. AGV, which is commercially available for sale to the market, provides automation that minimises manpower in handling load/material in the facility. This contributes to lower labour costs and to increase working efficiency. In addition, personnel-related accidents are reduced to minimum levels with the use of AGV. The quality of the work done with AGV is also standardised, according to a press release by the company.

AGV, which operates with automatic guidance without the need for operator assistance, transports cargoes weighing between 2 and 4 tons. With this carrying capacity, AGV, which is appealing to many industries, can be programmed with its advanced software and can perform stop and continue operations at the designated stations. AGV, which acts as a smart load carrier in the facility, can rotate around 360 degrees and in a narrow space. For the operation of the AGV, it is sufficient to have a line according to the load and the width of the freight car. AGV, which follows the magnetic field, stops automatically when it is obstructed by its audible and light warning systems. (GK)
