Louis Vuitton to source from Indian organic textiles producer

Bhu:sattva, an Ahmedabad-based producer of organic textiles has initiated discussions to supply its products to iconic luxury brand Louis Vuitton and apparel retailer, Marks and Spencer (M&S).
Bhu:sattva was launched in March 2009 at India's premier fashion and trade event; Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) and has never looked back ever since.
Currently, Bhu:sattva organic clothing is available in 50 stores across India in cities like, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad.
Bhu:sattva sources its range of organic textile products like apparels and home textiles from the handloom and handicraft sector by organizing Self Help Groups (SHGs) across different districts of Gujarat, involving women from the lower strata of society.
These women are deployed in various processes of organic garments manufacturing like herbal dyeing, block printing, cutting & stitching, embroidery, khadi art and revival of languishing art forms and will also promote handloom weaving sector.
Speaking to fibre2fashion, Mr Jainam Kumarpal, Director of Rising TradeLink Ltd (RTL) that owns Bhu:sattva said, “We're planning to tie up with both Marks & Spencer and Louis Vuitton”.
“However, right now it is at a very primary stage, as we have just initiated talks with them. Besides, there are 2-3 more brands but these two, Marks & Spencer and Louis Vuitton are among the bigger names”, he informed.
