Cosmetic industry's indulgence in skin care & anti-ageing

For Indian splendor industry worth Rs.2,000 crore, 'Look fair' has every time been the hymn.

In the midst of anti-ageing creams and lotions attracting the fastest growing section, cosmetic majors are now shifting to 'look young.'

Deepak Bhandari, Modi Revlon, who had in recent times launched its anti-ageing skin care range in India, told, 'after fairness creams, the largest growing and the biggest segment is anti-ageing related products at around 20 percent.'

The longing to stay young-looking is nothing novel but the latest requirement for anti-ageing treatments lies in the conviction that transformation is achievable.

Populace of the matured age faction desire to remain gorgeous and young-looking too and consequently, there is a requirement for age-specific products too necessitating anti-ageing treatments.

"Of late increase in demand may be due to the 'wellness' notion, which is extensive in globe," says Shahnaz Husain, beauty expert.

The cosmetic industry is working overtime to draw closer with new products which fall under the premium segment as contrasting to fairness creams and moisturizers which are accessible in mass segments also.

Indian companies are focused more on ancient ayurvedic products, while Revlon has arrived in India with its international variety of products approved by Hollywood celebrities.
