The fibre testing laboratory in Hami prefecture of Xinjiang province in China has started implementation of new standards as required by the national cotton reserve policy 2013.

The new inspection process pays more attention to numerical accuracy, with cotton fibre quick tester being used for accurate and fast testing.

Previously, cotton grade test was done by visual inspection and by touch.

Cotton procurement grade needs accuracy to ensure the quality of cotton, from the harvesting and processing sectors, and thereby reduce the destruction of lower quality of cotton.

The Xinjiang Hami fibre testing laboratory started testing from September 20, with relatively high quality requirements, which would be better for the textile industry in the long run.

The new standards favour the promotion of cotton picker machines, according to experts.
