Farmers Organisation conducted an on-field demonstration of modern cotton farming methods for growers in Chinguluwe Extension Area in Salima.
The farmers also showed their cotton fields, which after adopting the new technology, promised plentiful yields despite poor rains.
Farmer's organisation provided the farmers with cottonseed treated with Gaucho-T insecticide and fungicide Thyrum.
The two chemicals are dissolved and absorbed by the plants and remain active for six to eight weeks after planting.
According to Barney Kamvazina, Marketing Manager of the Organisation, current seed creates many problems for cotton farmers as pests and diseases attack seeds when they grow.
However, the organization has found a solution by giving farmers treated seeds, said Kamvazina.
On the other hand, farmers have also appreciated this decision and are ready to adopt it.
