Trading at Karachi Cotton Exchange (KCE) sustained moderate pace on August 17, 2005. Nearly 1,600 bales from various stations were traded during the day long session.
Sindh's cotton from various stations ruled the market. The Karachi Cotton Association spot rate remained intact at Rs 2,225 per maund. Textile mills picked cotton of various grades through local sale of lint by Trading Corporation of Pakistan.
For quality lint their offer stood at around Rs 2,300 per maund. The spinners also purchased Sindh lint at almost Rs 2,250 per maund. From Punjab ginners, there was little to offer for to spinners in quality terms between Rs 2,225 per maund to Rs 2,240 per maund.
The physical market prices of cotton movered in the narrow range of Rs 2,250 and Rs 2,300 per maund.
KCA data revealed that 200 bales each of Khipro, Shahdadpur and Sanghar traded at Rs 2,275 per maund, 400 bales Mirpurkhas at Rs 2,250, 200 bales of Mirpurkhas at Rs 2,240 and 200 bales of Sadiqabad at Rs 2,250 per maund.
