Chinese cotton yield & output to rise in new season

Cotton output in new season is expected to be higher in the new cotton season than that achieved in the previous season, according to a report released by the China Cotton Association.
The report reveals that national cotton planting area in 2010 declined 0.89 percent from the previous year and is estimated at about 77.10 million Mu (one hectare equals 15 Chinese Mu).
The national average yield is expected to be 91.6 kilograms per Mu, up 4.8 percent over the previous year and total production is projected to touch 7.06 million tons, up 3.9 percent over the previous year.
