Fire clutches yet another leather factory in Kolkata

Leather factory at Radhanath Chowdhury Road in Tangra, East Kolkata, was caught in flames on Wednesday morning.
More than 20 fire tenders struggled for hours before the fire could be brought under control after two hours.
Reports give an evidence for the presence of a large quantity of plastic and other inflammable materials which could have worsened the situation by spreading the flames to other adjacent buildings.
Officials express disappointment over the fact that despite being the ninth incident of this kind in the area since January, factory owners have not taken measures to install fire-fighting facilities.
No injuries have been reported so far, but it is expected that factory owners would shed their reckless attitude to adopt a more responsible approach towards preventive measures.
